Nero was founded in 2015 in Istanbul by a group of artists who wanted to bring a distinct perspective to ceramics and design. We work across the full process, from product design through to production.
In our 700 m² workshop, kilns, pressing machines, potter's wheels, 3D printers, and casting stations work side by side. Casting, pressing, and hand-thrown work are each used where they suit the piece best — fired at high temperature, for work that is durable, considered, and built to last.

“A good piece should still remember the hands that made it.”
Onur trained as an architect for nearly a decade before clay found him. It was during the restoration of a small stone house on the Aegean coast that he came across an abandoned wood-fired kiln in the garden, half-buried and still full of broken bowls. He spent that summer teaching himself to fire it instead of finishing the blueprints. Within a year he had left the practice for good, apprenticed himself to a potter three villages over, and never really looked back.
What he carried over from architecture wasn’t technique but patience — the willingness to let a form fail a dozen times before it earns its shape. Nero grew out of that same instinct: pieces that are thrown slowly, glazed by hand, and left just imperfect enough to prove that no two came from the same pair of hands.
